Pony Club

Lodge Farm Equestrian Centre is a Pony Club Centre and offers Pony Club Centre Membership.

The Pony Club is an international voluntary youth organisation for young people interested in ponies and riding. Founded in England in 1929, and granted independent charitable status on 1st January 1997, there are around 345 Branches and 480 Centres in the UK alone. The Pony Club has been the starting point for a large majority of equestrian team members and medal winners.

The Pony Club is represented in no less than 27 countries with a worldwide membership exceeding 110,000 making it the largest association of young riders in the world.

The objectives of The Pony Club are:

  • to encourage young people to ride and to learn to enjoy all kinds of sport connected with horses and riding
  • to give instruction in riding and horsemastership and to educate Members to look after and to take proper care of their animal
  • to promote the highest ideals of sportsmanship, citizenship and loyalty to create strength of character and self-discipline

In 1998, the Centre Membership scheme was launched for those, without their own pony who ride at riding schools, to become Members and take part in all that The Pony Club has to offer. There are currently around 480 Pony Club Centres spread across the UK. Activities at the Centre are run by the Proprietor and their Coaches.

Pony Club Centre Membership is open to anyone under 25 years of age who does not own a pony. Members pay an annual subscription and receive instruction at a Pony Club linked Centre, this subscription constitutes Membership of the Club and includes third party insurance. The cost is £41 (for 2024) which is paid to the Pony Club Office based at Stoneleigh Park, Kenilworth, Warwickshire. It is on a rolling basis so you always get 12 months from the day you join.

As a Pony Club member you can work towards our range of Achievement Badges, Mini Achievement Badges and Competition Badges, learning vital skills along the way! You can also improve your riding and horse care skills by working up through The Pony Club Efficiency Tests – will you achieve the coveted A Test?

We currently run Pony Club sessions on Tuesday and Thursday evenings and throughout the day on Saturdays. These sessions are 2 hours in duration and cost £30 per riders and include riding and both theory and practical training in horse care and stable management. In addition competitions and fun days are held regularly.

Pony Club Events

On the third Sunday of each month we have a Pony Club Fun Day starting at 11.00 a.m. This is an opportunity for our clients to compete on either their own ponies or on one of the riding school ponies. We have a range of classes to suit all abilities, including Dressage, Smartest on Parade and Scatter Poles. Points are awarded which culminate in an Awards Competition at the end of the year. The schedule does change slightly each month. These are available from the riding school.
