Over the past week we’ve had a few unexpected visitors who have joined the team here at Lodge Farm Riding School. Take a look at our video below.
It’s a very noisy yet adorable nest of four baby Blackbirds. It’s breeding season, what a perfect place for these beautiful creatures to nest. The mother we call Birdie’ has taken materials from Lodge farm Equestrian Centre, she has helped herself to straw, grass, twigs and even some of our horses bedding.
Did you know?
Blackbirds are also called the Eurasian Blackbird. Breeding starts in March, they have 2-3 clutches. Incubation period is usually 10-19 days. Male blackbirds establish a territory during their first year, which they will hold throughout their life.
Our staff and riders at Lodge Farm Riding School are enjoying watching these beautiful chicks grow each day. Let’s get you and your families booked in for a riding lesson and come and see our feathered friends as well.
Stay safe. Stay Alert!

It’s rather a momentous weekend, we feel here at Lodge Farm Equestrian Centre it’s a significant time to pay tribute to the service and sacrifice of the Second World War, known today as VE Day. As we face uncertainty and some of the most challenging times today, now more than ever it’s important to unite in recognition of service to the nation.
Over 75 years ago, our noble steeds, Horses, in World War II were used by the belligerent nations for transportation of troops, artillery, and material. The role of horses for each nation depended on its military strategy and state of economy. Let’s celebrate the great heroic soldiers and horses this weekend.
With this in mind we still ask you to ‘hold your horses’ until we know further from the Government before any social gathering. We eagerly await to hear the announcement on Sunday.
We have been exceptionally busy this week at Lodge Farm Equestrian Centre working hard during the closure, although financial hard times are upon us all, we have been making improvements to enable incredible facilities for our clients and customers, whilst at the forefront are the care and needs of all our riding school horses and ponies.
Here are fragments of what we’ve been accomplishing:
As you can see above, we have been jet-washing,disinfecting the entire stables including the rubber mats. As well as painting the stables ready for when we resume back to our riding activities.
Here we are making enormous improvements to our pony club lecture room as well as the cafe. Here we have the nearly finished product below ready for painting.
What colour do you think we should paint ?
